Nessee right after her emergency surgery

Born from one emergency. Built for every family.

Nessee's Fund was inspired by our dog, Nessee, a female Flat-Coated Retriever, and a life-changing emergency that forever changed the way we view veterinary care and financial hardship for pet owners.

When Nessee was around a year and a half old, she was staying with a trainer alongside her sister, Ainsley, when something suddenly went terribly wrong. Nessee began throwing up repeatedly, and it was immediately clear that this was more than just an upset stomach. The trainer rushed her to an emergency veterinary hospital, where doctors discovered that her stomach had flipped — a life-threatening condition requiring immediate emergency surgery.

John, the founder and CEO of Nessee's Fund, did not hesitate when the veterinarians explained the cost of the procedure. His only concern was saving Nessee's life. Thankfully, the surgery was successful, and Nessee made a full recovery. But during that experience, the veterinary team shared a heartbreaking reality: many families are forced to make impossible decisions during medical emergencies because they simply cannot afford the cost of treatment. Hearing how many pets are lost due to financial barriers left a lasting impact on us.

"We never want loving pet owners to feel completely alone during a medical crisis, or feel forced to choose between financial stability and saving a member of their family."

That experience became the foundation for Nessee's Fund. Our mission is to help families experiencing financial hardship afford emergency and major medical veterinary care for their pets. Through compassion, community support, and direct veterinary assistance, we hope to ease some of that burden and help more pets receive the care they deserve.
